Active shooter events are an uncomfortable topic in the best of times. Raise the topic during a global pandemic and you’re likely to lose your audience. But the threat exists even if we would prefer to ignore it. The reality is the threat is greater than ever.
According to a current report in the Nature and Human Behavior Research Journal (see graph above), there is a direct correlation between unemployment and a rise in Active Shootings.
Coupled with the fact that over 2M guns were purchased during the first 2 months of the shutdown (New York Times March 25, 2020), it’s clear there is a need to and responsibility for acting now to prepare your employees.
